Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects Receives 2004 Georgia AIA Design Awards of Excellence

The Jean Gray Hargrove Music Library at the University of California, Berkeley and the Bailey HouseStudio in Atlanta, Georgia are recipients of 2004 Georgia AIA Design Awards of Excellence.

Regarding the Jean Gray Hargrove Music Library at the University of California, Berkeley: “This project exhibits a high level of detail for an institutional building. It is great to see a college campus building in America not made of brick. The site is very well crafted and the site design fits the context. The execution of craftsmanship is extraordinary–the builder deserves an award as well.”

Regarding Bailey HouseStudio: “The jury viewed this building as a wonderful sculptural mass that frames views of nature. The exterior detailing and outdoor spaces are well designed, appearing as a line weaving its way through the trees. It appears as an urban building that works perfectly with nature.”
