The Yale Health Center Opens Its Doors

The 147,000 square foot Yale Health Center opens this month. The new facility contains approximately 850 rooms housing sixteen clinical departments, an inpatient facility with seventeen beds, seven administrative departments, a pharmacy, and campus meeting facilities and also includes an adjacent parking facility. The building is comprised of sloping brick walls with varying angles within the same wall plane creating subtle cascading walls.

Most of the materials used in construction are environmentally friendly; the building is designed to maximize natural light and includes four green roofs one of which is a rooftop garden. It will be the first in Connecticut to receive the Green Guide for Health Care.
