Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects Selected as Finalist for the Kaohsiung Maritime Cultural and Popular Music Center International Competition
Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects has been selected as one of five finalists for the Kaohsiung Maritime Cultural and Popular Music Center International Competition, located in the city of Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan, R.O.C. The competition began with a first round of submissions in August 2010 and will culminate with the selection of a round two winner in January 2011. The project calls for the design of a hybrid pop music incubation and performance center as well as a maritime museum that celebrates the maritime culture of Kaohsiung, Taiwan’s largest port city. The construction budget for the project is approximately $141,000,000 UD and is expected to be completed by the end of 2015. The competition is sponsored by the Kaohsiung City Government, Construction Office, Public Works Bureau, Kaohsiung City Government, Taiwan, R.O.C.
