The Colonial Dames XVII Century and the North Side Library Association sponsored the unveiling of the historic marker at an event on 7 September 2014. The event coincided with the 25th anniversary of the opening of the current library building in 1989. The final sentence of the marker reads, “this memorial serves as a constant reminder of the power of one individual to influence community life.”
